Lamine Yamal raised the bar for challenge against Cristiano Ronaldo when he confirmed that Spain would win the UEFA Nations League final against Portugal.
The 17-year-old led Spain to the final after a 5-4 victory over France, while Portugal defeated Germany at the Allianz Arena with a Ronaldo goal.
Ahead of Sunday’s final, Yamal said when asked about Ronaldo, “Cristiano Ronaldo is a legend, and we all respect him a lot, but I will do my duty, which is to win the match.”
He added, “We know that Portugal is a strong opponent, just like France. We are two great teams, and I hope to bring the trophy back to Spain.”
He concluded, “Cristiano is a great player, but I will focus on what I have to do on the pitch.”
Ronaldo also praised Yamal, stressing that he has everything it takes to achieve great things, asking the media to stop putting pressure on him and let him grow in peace.
