Surprise: Mohamed Salah Played the Role of a “Mediator” for Zizo!

Ahmed Sayed Zizo revealed that he almost moved to Saudi club Al-Ettifaq last January, based on a special recommendation from Mohamed Salah.

Al-Ahly announced Zizo’s transfer to the club after six years with arch-rivals Zamalek, on a free transfer.

Zizo appeared on a television program to discuss the backstage of his departure from Zamalek, during which he revealed Salah’s intervention to transfer him to Al-Ettifaq.

The Egyptian star said, “I received a phone call from Steven Gerrard, the Al-Ettifaq coach at the time, and he conveyed his desire to sign me and buy out the final six months of my contract.”

He also added, “Gerrard told me that he contacted Mohamed Salah directly to ask his opinion, and the Liverpool star praised my abilities before contacting me via phone call.”

As for the reason he ultimately did not move to Al-Ettifaq, he said that Zamalek officials stalled and caused the deal to fail.

It’s worth noting that Zizo attributed his decision not to renew his contract with Zamalek to the club’s lack of seriousness, stressing that he experienced the exact opposite with Al Ahly, which was one of the main reasons for his decision to move to the Red Devils.
