Guardiola excludes Manchester City star from Club World Cup squad, club puts him up for sale

The Telegraph revealed that Pep Guardiola has excluded a Manchester City star from his squad for the 2025 Club World Cup.

This star is Jack Grealish, who is also up for sale by direct decision of Guardiola and endorsed by the English club’s management.

Guardiola believes that Grealish cannot provide the desired addition at the moment, and that the club needs other players in his position as he ends his contract.

The club’s management shares Guardiola’s view, so there is an openness to selling him for a modest sum in the current summer transfer window to offload his large salary.

City is working to finalize a deal for Rayan Cherki, who will effectively replace Grealish at the Etihad Stadium.

It is worth noting that Grealish has been largely overlooked by Guardiola this season, appearing in only 32 matches, most of which have come as a substitute, scoring three goals and providing only five assists.

Grealish is City’s most expensive player after joining from Aston Villa for €120 million in the summer of 2021.
