Former Liverpool manager and current Red Bull Group CEO Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that he will not be returning to coaching anytime soon, in response to reports that he has agreed to coach Roma.
The German coach was linked in recent months with the position of coaching Real Madrid to succeed Carlo Ancelotti, before Klopp rejected the offer. It was then reported that he had already agreed to work at Roma, but he has now come out and denied it himself.
Klopp said in a media statement, “If you read any rumors about me taking a coaching position in the next few years, it’s nonsense.”
Klopp’s refusal to return to coaching comes after 20 years with Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool, which he believes took up too much of his personal life and caused him to be away from his family for a long time.
Klopp is currently tied to a contract with Red Bull until 2030, but he has the right to terminate the contract at any time, subject to a specific release clause, in order to coach the German national team.
Logically, Klopp won’t take over as Germany coach until 2028, as Julian Nagelsmann has just renewed his contract with the German national team until the next Euros. By then, Red Bull coach Zlatan Zlatan may be eager to return to the bench and accept the exciting task of leading his country.
