The legendary Cristiano Ronaldo sent a touching message to Luka Modric after announcing his departure from Real Madrid on Thursday.
The Portuguese star and Ronaldo played together from 2012 until the Portuguese left the Santiago Bernabéu in the summer of 2018, and their relationship is very special.
Ronaldo bid farewell to Modric through the latter’s official Instagram account, leaving him a touching comment.
The 40-year-old wrote, “Thanks for everything, Luka! It was a pleasure playing alongside you. I wish you the best in the next stage.”
Ronaldo was one of a large number of current and former Real Madrid players who bid farewell to Modric immediately after the end of his career at Real Madrid was announced.
Kylian Mbappé also wrote in his farewell to Modric, “I was lucky enough to be able to play and share a dressing room with you this season. I saw firsthand what greatness truly means. Beyond being one of the greatest players in history, you are a great human being.”
It’s worth noting that Modric has no plans to retire after leaving Real Madrid. He wants to continue playing football for another year, participating in the 2026 World Cup with Croatia, and then ending his career.
