He hasn’t officiated El Clásico for 5 years… Referee for Real Madrid vs. Barcelona revealed

Relevo has revealed the identity of the referee who will officiate the crucial match between Real Madrid and Barcelona in the 35th round of La Liga next Sunday.

The Spanish Football Federation’s Referees Committee has selected renowned referee Hernández Hernández to officiate El Clásico for the first time in five years.

The 42-year-old referee has previously officiated El Clásico matches four times, the first of which was in 2016 in La Liga, when Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou.

The second match was also in La Liga, but in 2017, when Lionel Messi scored his legendary last-gasp goal at the Santiago Bernabéu, securing Barcelona a 3-2 victory and clinching the La Liga title.

The third match was also in La Liga in 2018 and ended in a 2-2 draw at Camp Nou. The last match was in the same competition in 2010 and ended in a goalless draw at the Catalan club’s home.

This year’s El Clásico will be decisive by all accounts, as Barcelona holds a four-point lead over Real Madrid. A Catalan victory would effectively seal the title for the Blaugrana, while a win for Los Blancos would revive their hopes of retaining their title.
