Trent Alexander-Arnold announced in an official statement the end of his journey with Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the current season.
The flying right-back said, “I think the first thing I have to say is that this was not an easy decision. It took a lot of thought and emotion. I’ve spent 20 years here, loved every minute, and achieved all my dreams and everything I wanted to achieve here.”
Adding his address to Liverpool fans, he added, “There’s so much I want to say. The most important thing is to say a huge thank you. You’ve been with me from the beginning, supported me, and have always been there.”
Arnold’s Career with Liverpool
Arnold began his career as a youth player at Liverpool and progressed through the youth ranks until he broke into the first team in 2016.
Since then, he has made 352 appearances in all competitions, scoring 23 goals and providing 92 assists, winning eight titles, the most recent of which was the 2025 Premier League.
Arnold won the 2019 UEFA Champions League with Jürgen Klopp’s side, as well as two Premier League titles, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the Carabao Cup, the Community Shield, and two Carabao Cup titles.
Arnold to Move to Real Madrid
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arnold will move to Real Madrid.
Last March, the club’s management reached an agreement with Arnold on all personal terms, and coach Carlo Ancelotti was informed to plan the new season with the English star.
Arnold will sign a five-year contract with Real Madrid, competing with Dani Carvajal for a starting spot at right-back.
