Mbappé matches Benzema’s seven-game scoring streak and closes in on Ronaldo

Kylian Mbappé scored for the seventh consecutive competitive game for Real Madrid against Valencia at Mestalla, moving within one match of his personal best for the club and bringing one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s finest scoring runs back into focus.

Mbappé struck in the 75th minute, taking Arda Güler’s pass past goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski with his first touch and rolling the ball into the net with his second. It sealed a 3–0 win for Madrid in their final game before the international break.

The run began against Roma in the Champions League. The Frenchman then scored against Sevilla, RB Leipzig, Barcelona, Racing Santander and AEK Athens before finding the net against Valencia. Braces against Sevilla and Barcelona took his tally to nine goals in seven games.

Mbappé’s longest scoring streak for Madrid came in 2025, when he found the net in eight straight matches. His goal at Mestalla matched a seven-game run that Karim Benzema put together twice, in 2021 and 2022.

Ronaldo scored in 12 consecutive competitive games for Madrid twice, in 2014 and 2018. He also scored in 10 straight games in 2014, eight in a row in both 2012 and 2013, and seven in succession in 2012.

Madrid return from the break with three straight games at the Santiago Bernabéu. They host Celta Vigo in La Liga on 21 November, PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on 24 November and Alavés in the league on 28 November.

They then visit Real Sociedad on 2 December in a match brought forward from matchday 23 because of the Spanish Super Cup, before travelling to San Mamés to face Athletic Club on the weekend of 5–6 December.

If Mbappé plays and scores against Celta, he will equal his personal best for Real Madrid. If he finds the net in all five games, he will match Ronaldo’s 12-game streak at San Mamés.
