Real Madrid combined breaking Racing Santander’s home fortress with celebrating historic milestones for stars Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé, securing a 3-0 victory to stay in hot pursuit of the La Liga summit.
José Mourinho’s side handed their hosts their first home league defeat of the season at El Sardinero, after Racing had previously built an unbeaten run of three wins and two draws in front of their home fans.
Real Madrid wrapped up the match early during the eleventh round, thanks to an 11th-minute penalty from Mbappé, followed by goals from Bellingham in the 21st minute and Yan Diomandé in the 36th minute.
Bellingham’s goal carried remarkable historical symmetry: the Englishman scored his 50th goal in a Real Madrid shirt across all competitions in his 154th appearance, becoming the 50th player in the club’s history to reach that landmark.
Furthermore, Bellingham stands alone as the only La Liga midfielder to score 50 goals across all competitions since his arrival at Real Madrid in the 2023–24 season, underscoring his extraordinary goalscoring prowess from midfield.
As for Mbappé, he added Racing to a list from which no opponent has escaped; he has now scored against all 24 teams he has faced in La Liga, taking his overall tally in the competition to 68 goals.
The Frenchman also reached 18 penalty goals in La Liga, sharing the highest mark from the spot since the start of the 2024–25 season with Ante Budimir.
At the team level, Real Madrid scored three first-half goals away from home in La Liga for the first time since netting four against Villarreal in May 2024. The last time they achieved this under Mourinho was against Valencia in January 2013, when they scored five goals before the break at Mestalla.
The win lifted Real Madrid’s tally to 27 points, keeping the gap with leaders Barcelona at three points while handing Mourinho’s men their sixth consecutive victory across all competitions.
