The official project presentation took place at the Sforza Castle in Milan, where architectural renderings were revealed for the arena that will serve as the shared home for both clubs in the coming era.

The venue will be named the “Generali Stadium” following a naming rights agreement secured with the Italian insurance giant, in a partnership characterized by project management as one of the largest globally.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the naming rights deal is valued at approximately €650 million over nearly twenty years, securing a long-term revenue stream for both clubs.

Designed jointly by Foster + Partners and Manica Architecture, the venue will feature a capacity of 71,500, including roughly 13,000 premium and hospitality seats, alongside stands engineered to bring spectators closer to the pitch.

The total development cost for the stadium and its surrounding district is estimated at €2.3 billion, covering a broader scope than the sporting arena alone by incorporating commercial spaces and facilities designed to generate year-round revenue.

Meanwhile, the demolition of the current San Siro remains part of the long-term plan following the move to the new venue, with portions of the site designated for redevelopment; hence, the announcement does not signify that demolition work has commenced.

The official announcement set 2028 as the projected target for the start of construction, aiming for the 2031–2032 season to host the opening match—contingent upon securing all necessary administrative approvals—as the project navigates several remaining phases before bidding farewell to the historic ground.
