Jadon Sancho has turned down a move to Getafe, putting an end to potential prospects of a first spell in La Liga, following sustained efforts by the Madrid-based club to convince the English winger to join their ranks.
Marca revealed that the player communicated his final decision directly to Getafe president Ángel Torres, closing out negotiations that the club had hoped would provide head coach José Bordalás with a key attacking reinforcement.
Sancho’s stance is tied to a lucrative financial offer he received from a club in Arab football, though the Spanish daily did not disclose the specific club or country. His representatives are currently working to finalize the agreement, which has not yet been officially announced.
The Englishman had requested €3 million net through the end of the season to accept Getafe’s offer—a figure the Spanish side was unable to match despite their clear interest in securing the transaction.
Marca noted that Getafe’s proposal exceeded figures circulated in the English media suggesting a willingness to pay only €400,000; however, it remained well short of the player’s demands as he seeks a more lucrative contract outside Europe.
The 26-year-old winger has been seeking a new club since his contract with Manchester United expired last June. His time at Old Trafford began with a high-profile transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 and subsequently featured loan spells back to Dortmund, as well as Chelsea and Aston Villa.
During the 2025–2026 season, Sancho made 39 appearances across all competitions for Aston Villa, scoring one goal and featuring in the squad that captured the UEFA Europa League title, before departing when his loan was not made permanent.
Meanwhile, Getafe—who had been seeking a winger to broaden their options for a season spanning three competitions—maintains two vacant squad spots. However, the club is now expected to freeze incoming transfer activity until the winter window opens on January 2, barring an exceptional market opportunity.
