Mohamed Salah failed to find the back of the net, but Trabzonspor managed a thrilling comeback against Rizespor to continue their winning run in the Turkish Süper Lig and cement their spot among the title contenders.
The Egyptian superstar started the match at the Çaykur Didi Stadium in the ninth round of fixtures, which saw the lead change hands multiple times before the final whistle.
The game began on a rough note for Trabzonspor, as Giannaro Borelli bagged a first-half brace for Rizespor with goals in the 12th and 32nd minutes, allowing the hosts to go into the break with a 2-0 cushion.
The response came swiftly after the restart: Melih Kabasakal pulled one back in the 49th minute, before Aral Simsir struck two minutes later to draw the visitors level and reset the contest within moments.
Franculino Djú completed the turnaround by firing Trabzonspor ahead in the 58th minute. However, Rizespor refused to back down and equalized through Qazim Laçi in the 70th minute.
Djú sealed the victory with his second goal of the evening in the 85th minute, securing a dramatic 4-3 win for Trabzonspor after scoring all four of their goals in an explosive second half.
While Salah did not score or provide an assist—leaving his tally at eight league goals for the season—Ernest Muçi delivered a stellar performance by creating three goals and helping build up the play for the fourth.
Trabzonspor continue their resurgence under manager Thomas Reis, recording their fourth consecutive league victory following impressive wins over Galatasaray, Samsunspor, and Beşiktaş in their previous outings.
The result lifts Trabzonspor to 19 points, pushing them temporarily into second place—just one point behind leaders Amedspor pending the remaining fixtures of the round—while Rizespor remain static on 10 points.
