According to the newspaper Sport, the Spanish coach enjoys widespread admiration within the sports management, which sees in his ideas and approach to player development the appropriate qualities to lead the Catalan project when the German coach’s tenure concludes.

This appreciation reaches a point of consensus within the club to nominate him, alongside conveying a message to him about the necessity of contacting Barcelona before considering other offers if he decides to end his tenure with Como, though no announced agreement has been made to appoint him.

Both Fàbregas and Flick share a tendency toward attacking football, pressing, and initiative, alongside giving young players space to develop—elements that Barcelona places at the forefront of its criteria to preserve the team’s identity.

Fàbregas contributed to Como’s journey of promotion from Serie B, before officially taking charge in the summer of 2024, subsequently leading them to fourth place in the Italian league last season and qualification for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history.

His latest standout performance came in a 4-1 victory over Manchester United on Wednesday evening, courtesy of a brace from Nico Paz and goals by Tasos Douvikas and Jacobo Ramón, raising Como’s tally to six points after three European rounds.

Flick is tied to a contract until the summer of 2028, with an option to extend for an additional season, after renewing his agreement last May following his leadership of Barcelona to back-to-back league titles, making talk of Fàbregas tied to future planning.

The Como coach has also been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea, and reports previously mentioned contacts from Liverpool prior to Iraola’s appointment. Fàbregas himself is tied to Como until 2028, amidst reports of contractual facilities allowing him to leave for Barcelona, Arsenal, or Chelsea.
