The Bavarian club confirmed that tests undergone by the Colombian international following the 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League revealed a muscular injury.

Díaz is suffering from a small muscle fiber tear in his left hamstring. While Bayern has not specified an official return date, German reports estimate his absence at least a month, with the recovery period potentially extending up to six weeks.

The 29-year-old had started the match on the bench due to prior muscle discomfort before coming on in the 68th minute. However, he collapsed near the center circle in the 90th minute and was forced to leave the pitch, with medical tests contradicting initial assessments that ruled out a serious injury.

Bayern will be deprived of its winger’s services against Freiburg on October 25, Magdeburg in the DFB-Pokal on October 28, and Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga top-of-the-table clash on October 31.

The absence extends to the European fixture against Atlético Madrid on November 3 and Mainz on November 7, as well as Colombia’s international break commitments, while his potential participation against Cologne, Lille, and Hamburg remains dependent on his recovery speed.

The injury comes just as Díaz was beginning to regain his attacking impact, having scored a hat-trick and provided an assist in a 6-1 victory over RB Leipzig, raising his tally this season to five goals and one assist in 11 appearances across all competitions, including four goals in six league matches.

Vincent Kompany thus loses one of his most important options for left-wing penetration and pressing opponents, especially with Jamal Musiala also suffering from a muscular injury, which doubles the difficulty of distributing attacking roles in the coming weeks.
