Mohamed Salah sent a mocking message to Beşiktaş president Serdal Adalı after helping lead Trabzonspor to victory over the club that tried to sign him during the summer transfer window.
The Egyptian star chose his account on the X platform to respond, posting a photo of his celebration against Beşiktaş alongside a brief caption that brought the dispute surrounding the negotiations back into the spotlight.
Salah wrote: “35%”, referring to the percentage quoted by the Beşiktaş president when he blamed Ramy Abbas, the player’s agent, for the breakdown of the deal, claiming he demanded an exorbitant commission to finalize the transfer.
Adalı had previously said regarding the agent’s demands: “He raised his own commission to unbelievable levels—it reached 35%!”, noting that negotiations began with initial agreement from the player and his representative before the financial dispute emerged, according to his account.
This was not the first time the percentage was used as a point of mockery. Last August, Salah and Abbas appeared eating together, with the player asking: “Who ate the two plates?”, to which his agent replied: “I ate my plate and 35% of yours,” in a comment directed at the Turkish club president’s statements.
The latest response came following Trabzonspor’s 2-0 victory on Monday evening in the eighth matchday of the Turkish Süper Lig at Papara Park, where Salah scored the second goal in the 71st minute, combining a goal against Beşiktaş with a post-match jibe at their officials.
The Egypt captain joined Trabzonspor on a free transfer following the conclusion of his nine-year spell with Liverpool, signing a contract running until the summer of 2028 to embark on a new chapter in Turkish football.
Salah leads the Turkish Süper Lig scoring charts with eight goals, while his overall tally for Trabzonspor across all competitions stands at nine goals and four assists in 11 matches, giving his mocking message added weight through his on-field performances.
