A group of Paris Saint-Germain fans attempted to disrupt Barcelona’s squad with fireworks just hours before the anticipated Champions League clash between the two sides.
Cameras from Spanish television program El Chiringuito documented the incident outside the Catalan team’s hotel, as Barcelona prepare for a crucial European test against Luis Enrique’s side in the third matchday of the league phase.
The fireworks began shortly after 1:15 AM on Tuesday near the “Domaine de la Reine Margot” hotel in the Issy-les-Moulineaux area, in an effort to disturb the players’ rest and focus ahead of the match.
Journalist José Álvarez, the show’s reporter stationed near the hotel, was tracking the scene live before shouting toward those setting off the fireworks—a moment captured in circulated footage as the individuals moved away from the site.
The incident occurred amid heightened security measures accompanying Barcelona’s arrival in the French capital due to ongoing protests in the city. The delegation traveled directly into the hotel’s private parking facility, with players’ movements in public streets kept to a minimum.
Clashes between the two clubs carry a volatile European history, most notably the 2024 quarter-finals, when Barcelona secured a 3-2 victory in Paris before PSG overturned the tie with a 4-1 win in the second leg to advance 6-4 on aggregate.
Hansi Flick described the fixture against Paris by stating: “A good test to see where we stand right now,” highlighting the importance of gauging his side’s level against one of Europe’s top contenders, even though the competition remains in its early stages.
The match takes place on Tuesday evening at the Parc des Princes, kicking off at 9:00 PM Paris time, initiating a demanding run of fixtures for Barcelona that continues with El Clásico against Real Madrid this coming Sunday.
