A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a car carrying Sira Martínez, daughter of Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique, in an accident that occurred in the Valencia region of Spain.
The collision took place around 8:00 PM on Thursday on the N-332 road within the municipality of Oliva. Emergency response teams arriving at the scene were unable to revive the motorcyclist, according to the Emergency Coordination Centre.
The vehicle was being driven by a British equestrian, with initial tests showing no traces of alcohol or drugs in his system. While authorities have not yet determined the precise cause of the accident or legal liability, it has been confirmed that both the driver and Luis Enrique’s daughter escaped unharmed.
The 26-year-old daughter of Luis Enrique is a well-known equestrian competing in show jumping events. She also plays an active role in the Xana Foundation, established by her family to support children suffering from serious illnesses and their families.
The tragic incident recalls the painful ordeal endured by the Spanish manager’s family following the passing of his youngest daughter, Xana, on August 29, 2019, at the age of nine, following a five-month battle with osteosarcoma.
The illness had temporarily drawn Luis Enrique away from managing the Spain national team before he formally stepped down for personal reasons, subsequently returning to the helm following a period of mourning and later stating that the tragedy fundamentally altered his perspective on winning, losing, and life itself.
“I consider myself very lucky; Xana came to live with us for nine wonderful years,” he recalled in a documentary covering his life, refusing to reduce her memory to grief or remove her photographs from the family home.
“On a spiritual level, she is still with us. Every day we talk about her, laugh, and remember,” he added, before transforming that pain into a foundation delivering psychological, social, and financial aid to ill children and their families—an initiative in which Sira actively participates.
