The incident occurred during a promotional event organized by American Eagle in Barcelona, where Yamal attended a freestyle rap battle and served as part of the panel observing the performances.

During the battle, one of the contestants directed a satirical line at his opponent, saying: “You’re not Lamine and you’re not Vinícius… what’s wrong with your chin?”, prompting the Spanish international to visibly laugh.

The reference to the chin relates to the noticeable change in Vinícius’s facial features following the 2026 World Cup. Brazilian and Spanish reports previously indicated that he underwent a cosmetic procedure known as “chin contouring” designed to enhance the chin, define the jawline, and achieve greater facial symmetry—a transformation that subsequently made him the target of satirical comments across social media.

Circulating footage shows Yamal bursting into laughter immediately upon hearing the line, leading some observers to view his reaction as implicit participation in the mockery. However, the words were not uttered by the player himself, and there is no conclusive proof whether his laughter was directed at Vinícius or simply at the rapper’s delivery.

Neither Yamal nor Vinícius has issued a public statement regarding the clip. Nevertheless, the video’s rapid spread has taken on added sensitivity given the escalating rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid, alongside past tensions between the two players during El Clásico fixtures.

Critics of Yamal were quick to recall previous occasions when Vinícius publicly supported the Barcelona winger against racist abuse, arguing that laughing at a joke mocking the Brazilian’s appearance was inappropriate, even within the casual context of a freestyle rap battle.
