The Spanish winger’s decision follows the expiration of his contract with Lazio last June. Pedro released a farewell video recorded at Camp Nou—the stadium where his rise to global prominence began—stating: “I feel that the time has come to start a new chapter. I leave proud to have lived my dream… Thank you, football.”

Born in Tenerife, Pedro began his footballing journey with CD San Isidro before joining Barcelona’s youth academy in 2004. Frank Rijkaard handed him his first-team debut in January 2008, but his true breakthrough came under Pep Guardiola, who turned him into a pivotal component of Barcelona’s golden era.

Pedro etched his name into football folklore during the 2009–10 season by becoming the first player in history to score in six different official club competitions within a single season: La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the UEFA Champions League, the Spanish Super Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. He scored the winning goal against Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Super Cup and netted a dramatic late equalizer against Estudiantes in the Club World Cup final, paving the way for Barcelona’s victory in extra time.

Pedro made over 320 official appearances for Barcelona, scoring nearly 100 goals while lifting five La Liga titles, three UEFA Champions League trophies, three Copas del Rey, four Spanish Super Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, and two FIFA Club World Cups. Among his most memorable moments was scoring the opening goal against Manchester United in the 2011 Champions League final, which Barcelona won 3-1.

In the summer of 2015, Pedro signed for Chelsea in a deal worth around €27 million, continuing his success in England by scoring 43 goals in 206 appearances across all competitions. With the Blues, he won the Premier League title in 2016–17, the FA Cup the following season, and the UEFA Europa League in 2019—scoring in the 4-1 final victory over Arsenal.

After five years in London, Pedro moved to AS Roma in 2020 before crossing the capital divide to join fierce rivals Lazio the following season, becoming one of the few players to represent both Roman clubs. He entered Derby della Capitale lore by scoring for both teams and maintained his goalscoring touch well into his twilight years, scoring his final professional goal against Pisa last May.

On the international stage, Pedro earned 65 caps for Spain and scored 17 goals. He was a key member of La Roja’s golden generation, starting in both the semi-final and final during Spain’s 2010 World Cup triumph before adding the UEFA Euro 2012 title to his resume. Overall, he leaves the pitch with 26 major trophies and over 200 career goals, closing the curtain on one of the most decorated and big-game decisive Spanish players of his generation.
