Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the contract is now signed and approved after all remaining details were finalized with the player’s camp and legal team, with the official signing ceremony and public announcement set for Friday provided all paperwork is completed on schedule.

The deal extends Raphinha’s stay by two additional seasons, as his previous contract was due to expire in the summer of 2028. Reports also indicate that his €1 billion release clause will remain intact, reflecting Barcelona’s determination to permanently close the door on any potential departure.

Sporting Director Deco had previously announced to the General Assembly in September that the Brazilian’s extension was in its final stages with only administrative details remaining, coinciding with Raphinha inheriting the first team’s primary captaincy armband.

The reward follows a sensational start to the current campaign, in which he scored 11 goals and provided 3 assists in his first 7 matches across all competitions, establishing himself as Barcelona’s top scorer and one of Europe’s most impactful players during the opening weeks.

Raphinha maintained his high stock despite injuries hampering his previous season, scoring 21 goals to lead Barcelona to the La Liga title and netting a brace against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final—earning Man of the Match honors and lifting the trophy.

The peak of his breakout form came during the 2024-2025 season, when he tallied 34 goals and 22 assists across 57 matches, guiding the club to a domestic treble of La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, before finishing fifth in the Ballon d’Or voting.

By the end of last season, Raphinha had made 175 official appearances for Barcelona, scoring 73 goals while capturing 3 La Liga titles, 3 Spanish Super Cups, and 1 Copa del Rey. Under Flick, he has proven his ability to operate as a winger or a versatile forward alongside his immense work rate off the ball.

The player had previously turned down a move to Saudi Arabia, despite clubs there being prepared to pay Barcelona roughly €90 million and offer him a net annual salary close to €30 million. Spanish outlet El País quoted his camp regarding his firm stance: “Rafa doesn’t want to leave Barcelona; he wants glory, not money”—a choice now converted into a long-term commitment through 2030.
