Barcelona have launched an extensive medical inquiry involving Raphinha to determine the underlying causes of his recurring muscle injuries during international duty with Brazil, specifically targeting ongoing issues in his right hamstring.
According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club will hold a formal review with the winger to examine his training load, intensity levels, and recovery protocols while stationed at Seleção camps.
Raphinha returned to Catalonia after departing the Brazil camp following a mild muscular swelling sustained during their 4–2 victory over Australia—a match in which he scored from the penalty spot before being substituted at half-time.
Barcelona’s concerns extend beyond the immediate setback, focusing instead on the fact that this represents Raphinha’s third muscular injury with Brazil in the span of six months, almost all located in the exact same muscle group.
The sequence began against France last March, leading to an nearly five-week layoff that ruled him out of both legs against Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, before he suffered a recurrence against Haiti at the World Cup that ended his tournament prematurely.
The winger was also subjected to significant travel fatigue during his latest international call-up, having been scheduled to log nearly 35,000 kilometers across three fixtures in Australia and India before his international tour was cut short.
Barcelona remain hopeful that the injury does not exceed mild swelling, particularly given Raphinha’s blistering start to the season with 14 goals in his opening eight matches. His availability for the upcoming match against Getafe on October 10 remains subject to upcoming medical test results.
