Greece secured their first-ever victory against Germany, stunning the hosts with a 1–0 win in Augsburg to hand Jürgen Klopp his first defeat since taking charge of the German national team.
Klopp made five changes to the lineup that drew with the Netherlands on opening night, continuing his plan to test members of an expanded squad featuring 16 players who had never represented the senior national team prior to this international break.

The match’s sole goal arrived in the 74th minute via Dimitris Kourbelis. Receiving a pass from Christos Tzolis, Kourbelis unleashed a low effort that deflected off captain Joshua Kimmich’s boot before nestling into Nübel’s net.
With this triumph, Greece ended a winless streak against Germany that had spanned since their inaugural meeting in 1960, having suffered seven defeats and recorded three draws across their ten previous encounters.
