Raphinha continued his extraordinary start to the season, scoring a perfect hat-trick to propel Barcelona from a goal down to a 3–1 victory against Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Matchday 7 of La Liga.
Sevilla took the lead through Youssouf Fofana in the 19th minute, but Raphinha required just three minutes to drag Barcelona level, netting the equalizer with his right foot to bring the first half to a 1–1 finish.
The Barcelona captain returned to put his side ahead with a header in the 52nd minute, before completing his hat-trick with a left-footed strike in the 69th minute—securing a “perfect hat-trick” by scoring with his right foot, head, and left foot.
Raphinha became only the second Barcelona player to score a perfect hat-trick in La Liga over the last 20 years, following Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez, who accomplished the feat against Córdoba in May 2015.
The Brazilian elevated his tally to 11 goals through Barcelona’s opening seven La Liga matches this season. In the 21st century, only Cristiano Ronaldo has recorded a higher tally over the same period (13 goals in 2014–2015), while Raphinha equaled Lionel Messi’s Barcelona mark from the 2017–2018 campaign.
The performance arrived just three days after his hat-trick against Racing Santander in a 7–2 win, giving Raphinha six goals across two consecutive matches and solidifying his position atop the La Liga goalscoring charts.
With this victory, Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the La Liga campaign, holding top spot with 21 points from seven consecutive wins. The team has scored 31 goals while conceding seven, underlining their attacking potency heading into the international break.
Raphinha’s historic night coincided with statements from sporting director Deco confirming that Barcelona reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract by an additional year, with administrative procedures to be finalized and officially announced in the near future.
Following the international break, Barcelona will host Getafe on October 10, visit Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on October 13, travel to Real Betis, face Paris Saint-Germain, and host Real Madrid in El Clásico at Camp Nou on October 25.
