FIFA has announced that the final stage of the 2025 Intercontinental Cup will be held in Qatar for the second consecutive year.
Real Madrid won the inaugural edition of the competition last year after defeating Pachuca 2-0 at Lusail Stadium.
Qatar is once again hosting the competition, but this time Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning European champions, secures a place in the final.
Qatar will host the so-called “Derby of the Americas,” where the Copa Libertadores winner will face Mexico’s Cruz Azul, the CONCACAF Champions League winner, on December 10.
The winner of this match will face Egypt’s Pyramids FC in the Challenge Cup on December 13, after the Blues eliminated Asian champions Al Ahly 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the Africa and Asia-Pacific Cup.
The winner of the Challenge Cup will finally advance to the final, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain on December 17, also at Lusail Stadium.
The Intercontinental Cup was created to replace the old Club World Cup, while the Club World Cup will be revamped with a 32-team format, held every four years.
