Zamalek joins Al-Ahly by decision and awaits punishment from the Egyptian Federation!

Zamalek management decided not to participate in the Egyptian League Cup for this season in light of the pressure of matches and the desire to rest the key players.

Al-Ahly had taken a similar decision a few days ago, and because of it, the Egyptian Football Association announced the imposition of a penalty of one million pounds.

According to Egyptian media, the Zamalek administration preferred for the junior team not to participate in the competition, preferring to play the friendly tournament in the Emirates with the first team, which will be held at the same time as the League Cup.

Zamalek participated in the first edition and was eliminated from the groups, while it was eliminated in last year’s edition by the National Bank.

The administration believes that it is best for the team to participate in the friendly tournament in the Emirates during the January break and focus on preparing for the coming period, after the bad start of the season.

Reports from Egyptian newspapers indicate that Zamalek is planning to sign a foreign coach in the coming days, and does not want to impose any pressure on it or on players in general in a new tournament such as the League Cup.

It is noteworthy that Zamalek occupies twelfth place in the Egyptian League standings with 11 points from 8 matches, while it succeeded in qualifying for the quarter-finals of the African Confederation Cup.
