Xavi: Referees, can you let us compete with Real Madrid?

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez launched a new attack on Spanish refereeing in the wake of the events of Alaves’ last La Liga match.

The Catalan club won 3-1, but its star Vitor Roque received a controversial red card, which ignited Xavi’s anger.

The coach, speaking to the media, said, “I think we are paying the price for Negrera’s case. You can see that today. I will not talk more about arbitration.”

He also added, “Another mistake today because of which we could have lost (Rocky’s expulsion).”

He continued, “All I ask of the referees is to allow us to compete for the Spanish League title. Roque’s expulsion was a new mistake against Barcelona.”

He concluded, “The truth is seen by everyone. Refereeing makes mistakes in our eyes. We want a solution to this crisis.”

Barcelona reached the 50th point in third place, temporarily 7 points behind leaders Real Madrid, which will face its neighbor Atletico on Sunday.
