“Xavi may step down as coach of Barcelona”

Journalist Gerard Romero, who is close to Barcelona, believes that the Catalan club’s management is not convinced that Xavi Hernandez is the best choice to coach the Blaugrana in the coming period.

At the beginning of 2024, Xavi lost the Super Cup and the King’s Cup, then suffered a humiliating defeat from Villarreal with a score of 5-3, which practically removed him from the La Liga title, with the difference with the leader Real Madrid widening to 10 points.

According to Romero, who stressed that he does not have information, but that what he says is just intuition, the Barcelona administration will ask Xavi to step down from the position of coach.

Joan Laporta realizes that dismissing Xavi in the middle of the season by his own decision will cause him public pressure, which may push him to an alternative option, which is for the dismissal decision to come from the coach himself.

This opinion was reinforced by Xavi’s delay in attending the press conference after the Barcelona-Villarreal match because he was in a meeting with Laporta.

Romero interpreted this as a “disrespectful” attempt by Laporta to force Xavi to go to the press conference, announce his resignation and end this matter.

In the end, Romero confirmed that in the coming hours the vision will become clear, and it is most likely that if this scenario does not happen, recovery will continue until the next setback.
