Xavi announces his departure from Barcelona coaching in one case

Although he stressed that he was disappointed by the exit from the King’s Cup, Xavi Hernandez is determined to continue his career as Barcelona coach, except in one case.

Barcelona lost to Athletic Bilbao 4-2 and bid farewell to the King’s Cup, becoming the second tournament the Catalan club lost in less than a month, after losing the Super Cup to Real Madrid.

After the match, Xavi spoke about it, saying, “We can be proud that we kept fighting until the end. We were competing well with young players against a very strong team on its home field.”

He also added, “Bilbao is a very intense team. It is always difficult to play against them. Now we have to forget what happened and focus on La Liga and the Champions League.”

The loss raised many questions about the possibility of the coach leaving his position, and Xavi responded to that by saying, “If we do not achieve anything or be at a high competitive level at the end of the season, I will have to leave.”

He continued, “I know where I am. It is a big club. In Barcelona, you have to win trophies or your fate is in danger.”

He concluded, “I am convinced of the project here and we have distinguished players with many wonderful young players. The future of this club is secure.”

It is noteworthy that Barcelona occupies third place in the Spanish League, 8 points behind leaders Girona, and will also face Napoli in the round of 16 of the Champions League.
