US Prevents Player from Participating in Club World Cup

The United States has blocked the participation of a Boca Juniors star in the 2025 Club World Cup, after denying him a visa to enter the United States.

The US has rejected Ayrton Costa’s visa application twice, as Boca Juniors works against time to find a solution that would allow the defending champion to join the squad.

According to reports from Argentina, US immigration authorities already denied Ayrton Costa entry in 2023, when the current Boca Juniors player was playing for Independiente.

Costa appears in two lawsuits that may be behind the US visa denial. One is a robbery, in which he is listed as a friend of the perpetrators, and the other is a violent homicide, in which his brother is the main defendant and Costa is listed as an accessory.

Neither case has been filed against him, but US immigration has not yet accepted his application for entry.

Boca Juniors is currently working on two fronts: the first is in the United States itself, after submitting his third visa application, and the second is by resorting to FIFA to find a way out.

Initially, the player is not expected to be available for the first match against Benfica, as it is impossible to complete the paperwork in such a short time.
