The newspaper “Corriere dello Sport” revealed the reasons for Jose Mourinho’s dismissal from coaching Roma and how the last moments of the “Special One” went in the Italian capital.
The Roma administration surprised everyone with the decision to dispense with Mourinho’s services, given that his contract with the Gyalurussian continued until the summer of 2024.
According to the famous Italian newspaper, dismissing Mourinho is not a new idea, but was wanted by Roma’s owners (the Friedkin family) after the Europa League final last season.
The American family was fed up with Mourinho’s constant blaming of referees and complaints about not doing the deals he wanted, and did not intend to renew his contract beyond 2024.
However, the management then decided to keep Mourinho in the hope that things would improve in the new season, but on the contrary, the differences increased due to his constant requests in the Mercato, after which the results declined.
Mourinho met with the royal family of Rome on Tuesday, and it was never in his mind that the dismissal would take place, and when they accused him of technical shortcomings, his response was by reminding them of their promises in the Mercato that they did not fulfill.
The dispute between them when he was informed of his dismissal went to the point of a violent verbal quarrel that broke out between him and Dan Friedkin, especially since Mourinho never accepted the decision to dismiss him.
At the same time, Mourinho’s relationship with his players was not good, which prompted the administration to dispense with his services.
The Portuguese mocked Chris Smalling because of his physical condition, and also entered into disagreements with captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, and Leonardo Spinazzola and Renato Sanchez are no longer on good terms with the coach.
All of these matters made the Roma administration contact Daniele De Rossi before dismissing Mourinho and offer him the job, then inform the coach in a meeting that was stormy due to the “Special One”‘s anger at the decision.
