The first surprise in the quarter-finals of the Spanish King’s Cup

Girona suffered an unexpected defeat from Real Mallorca with a score of 3-2, as a result of which it was eliminated from the Spanish King’s Cup in the quarter-finals.

Mallorca took a 3-0 lead in the first half, with everyone shocked and astonished by the deterioration of the La Liga leaders in this way, knowing that Girona crushed them in the league 5-3.

The efforts of Coach Mitchell’s squad to return failed despite achieving the goal to reduce the difference through Stuani in the 68th minute, and the second late goal in the 96th minute.

Girona’s exit is a surprise to everyone, given the team’s levels this season, as the defeat against Mallorca is their second defeat throughout the season after the first defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in La Liga.

Real Sociedad was the first to qualify for the semi-finals, after defeating Celta Vigo on Tuesday with two unanswered goals.

Barcelona will meet Athletic Bilbao in the quarter-finals, and Atletico Madrid will play with Sevilla in the last two matches to complete the semi-finals of the King’s Cup.

It remains to be noted that the semi-final matches will be determined by drawing lots next Thursday.
