Seventh: Barcelona loses a new star due to injury

Mundo Deportivo newspaper confirmed that Barcelona will enter the Villarreal match without its captain, Sergi Roberto, due to injury.

According to the report, Roberto suffered a hamstring injury and informed Xavi Hernandez and the medical staff about it, to be excluded from the match scheduled to be held at the Luis Companis Olympic Stadium.

Roberto will join a lengthy list of injuries at the Blaugrana, which includes Ter Stegen, Gavi, Marcos Alonso, Iñago Martinez, Rafinha and Alejandro Balde.

The 31-year-old is scheduled to undergo tests in the coming hours to determine the duration of his absence, and it may extend to more than just his absence from the Villarreal match on Saturday evening.

Roberto’s injury puts Xavi in trouble, as he has no choice but to put Joao Cancelo on the right front, and rely on Hector Forte for the first time as a starter on the left front due to other injuries as well.

It is noteworthy that Barcelona enters the match against Villarreal in third place in the La Liga standings, 8 points behind leaders Girona, and 7 points behind runner-up Real Madrid.
