Saudi Arabia reaches the round of 16 of the Asian Cup

The Saudi national team secured its qualification to the round of 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup after achieving a 2-0 victory over the Kyrgyz national team in the second round of the group stage.

The Kyrgyz national team played most of the match with 9 players after the expulsion of the duo, Izar Akhmatov (8th minute) and Kimi Merck (52nd minute).

Muhammad Kanno advanced for the Saudi Greens in the 38th minute, then Faisal Al-Ghamdi scored the second goal with a shot that missed the goalkeeper in the 84th minute.

Saudi Arabia defeated Oman 2-1 in the first round, and by defeating Kyrgyzstan, it reached the sixth point and maintained the lead in the group.

A draw against Thailand in the final round will be sufficient for the “Greens” to ensure qualification from the first place gate, with a relatively easier opponent in the round of 16.

It remains to be noted that the teams of Qatar, Australia, Iraq and Iran are the ones who have so far secured their qualification to the round of 16 in the 2023 Asian Cup.
