Revealing the name closest to succeeding Klopp as Liverpool coach

The English media has circulated the name of the current Bayer Leverkusen coach, Xabi Alonso, to succeed Jurgen Klopp as coach of the Reds starting next season.

Klopp had suddenly announced the end of his journey at Anfield at the end of the current season, although his contract is still valid until the summer of 2026.

According to the latest news, Alonso tops the list of candidates to succeed the German, given that he is one of the club’s legends as a player, in addition to his recent brilliance as a coach.

Alonso succeeded in saving Leverkusen from the relegation struggle last season, ensuring their survival and European participation, and he is still at the top of the German League this season, 4 points behind Bayern Munich.

Earlier, German newspapers indicated that Alonso is interested in coaching Liverpool, to the point that there is a clause in his contract that allows him to leave if he receives an offer from the English club.

The name of Klopp’s current assistant, Pep Lijnders, was also raised as a possible option, even if Liverpool’s announcement included that the Dutchman would also leave at the end of the season.

It remains to be noted that an official announcement of Liverpool’s new coach is not expected soon in light of what Klopp stressed on the necessity of continuing “business as usual” until the end of this season.
