Reports: Barcelona Completes the First Deals of the Summer of 2024

The Barcelona administration decided to activate the clause to buy back Shadi Riyad from Real Betis in the upcoming summer transfer period.

The newspaper “Sport” reported that the Catalan club is working to restructure its defenses next season, so the decision came to bring back Riyad after his great brilliance this season with Real Betis.

Barcelona will pay only 7 million euros to return the young Moroccan to Camp Nou, a few months after selling him to the Andalusian club for 2.5 million euros.

According to the newspaper, Barcelona has already informed the player and his club of this decision, while some Spanish newspapers say that Real Betis does not know anything about the matter yet.

The decision to bring back Shadi Riyad may be a prelude to the departure of one of Andres Christensen or Jules Kounde next summer, especially with the duo’s bids clearly declining this season, and Barcelona’s desire to earn some money to meet the rules of financial fair play.

With the departure of one of them and the inclusion of Riyad, Barça will need another defensive reinforcement, but the new name in this regard is still unknown.

Some news indicates that the decision to include Shadi Riyad is due to expectations that he will become one of the most important defenders in the world. Even if he does not benefit from him technically, he could be sold for a large price next summer or the following.

It is noteworthy that Shadi Riad is 20 years old. He represented the Moroccan national team in the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations last summer, and is expected to be part of the Atlas Lions in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
