France Football magazine published the details of the voting of all the journalists participating in the 2023 Ballon d'Or, which showed Lionel Messi's overwhelming superiority over the closest pursuer, Erling Haaland.
The Inter Miami star received his eighth Ballon d'Or of his career on October 30 in Paris, France, after convincing voters of his eligibility after winning the 2022 World Cup with Argentina.
Although there has been a lot of criticism of Messi's Ballon d'Or, the votes show a huge advantage for the player over all other rivals.
Messi is a Ballon d'Or winner with 462 points, 105 points behind Haaland, who only got 357 points in second place.
Kylian Mbappe, with a total of 270 points, compared to 100 for fourth-placed Kevin De Bruyne.
It is noteworthy here that 170 journalists voted for the Ballon d'Or, and each vote counts at 5 points for the first place winner.
The France Football report showed that Arab journalists also chose Messi, except in two countries that chose Haaland, namely those of Algeria and Bahrain.
