Liverpool's Luis Diaz's father and mother were kidnapped while at a petrol station in their home city of Barncas, Colombia.
According to press reports, an exchange of fire took place before two gunmen succeeded in kidnapping Luis Díaz father and mother.
But Díaz's mother was released in good condition, while the father is still being kidnapped, and the Colombian army is making a great effort to find him.
The Colombian army published an official statement on its X account in which it confirmed its support for extensive operations in order to find Díaz Sr. in the next few hours, including the closure of the exits and entrances to the city of Barncas.
Diaz is preparing for Liverpool's match against Nottingham Forest on Sunday night at Anfield, and these unfortunate events may have him out of Jurgen Klopp's calculations.
Diaz in a Liverpool shirt has scored 14 goals in 58 appearances in all competitions, and has represented Colombia in 43 international matches, scoring 9 goals.
