The newspaper "Marca" revealed that Barcelona practically cannot sign Joao Felix and Cancelo permanently during the next summer transfer window due to their high cost.
The Catalan club signed the pair on loan earlier this season, and neither contract includes a mandatory purchase clause next year.
But sporting director Deco said the club would do their best to keep Felix and Cancelo for years at Camp Nou.
According to "Marca", the cost of signing Cancelo from Manchester City will not be less than 30 million euros, while buying the contract with Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid, will cost at the very least, 70 million euros.
The total financial package for the duo will not be €100 million, but it will be much more than that by including their salary, which could eventually reach €120 or €150 million.
Barcelona do not have a margin to pay all this money in the players, they also have other needs next summer, such as the inclusion of a midfielder, so Xavi Hernandez may sacrifice, specifically Felix, and keeping Cancelo.
In this case, the closest is the return of Ansu Fati from his loan to Brighton to replace Felix in Xavi's battalion.
It is noteworthy that the report also pointed to great efforts by Catalan in order to ensure that the duo are together next season, and complete the rest of the required contracts without crises, but this will require the sale of a number of players to bring the economic situation in line with the rules of financial fair play.
