Boca Juniors' loss of the Copa Libertadores left a deep sadness in the hearts of the Argentine club's fans, to the point of committing suicide by one fan.
Boca Juniors reached the second final in the last 5 years, losing the former to long-time rivals River Plate, and this time losing to Brazil's Fluminense 2-1 in extra time.
According to the newspaper "Marca", the policeman Marcelo Morales, 23, shot himself and committed suicide after the end of the Fluminense match.
Speaking to Argentine newspapers after the incident, the deceased's mother said: "He couldn't bear the pain of losing, Boca was everything for him, and when he lost he was always sad, he was killed by Boca players!"
"He said two weeks ago that he would commit suicide if Boca lost the final, we thought he was joking, but we haven't believed what happened until now."
