Deco, sporting director of Barcelona, confirmed the club's unequivocal support for coach Xavi Hernández as the best person to lead the Blaugrana at the current stage.
In the last month, Barcelona have suffered a sharp drop in form, after losing in El Clásico and narrowly beating Real Sociedad, then losing the Shakhtar game and finally a hard-fought win over Alavés.
All these things have created a lot of pressure on coach Xavi, amid rumours that he is starting to lose the support of Joan Laporta's management and could be ousted at any moment.
But Deco denied this outright, telling RAC1: "Xavi has absolute confidence, we have 200 per cent confidence in him."
"I have no doubts that he is the best coach of Barcelona and our current project."
"He accepted to come here at an important and dangerous moment, and he proved that he is an exemplary coach in the process of rebuilding that the club has gone through."
Xavi led Barcelona to La Liga last season and won the Spanish Super Cup at the expense of Real Madrid.
However, Barcelona remain unable to make it through the group stage of the Champions League under Xavi, having bid farewell to the competition twice by finishing third, and this season a decisive match awaits them against Porto, a loss that could topple them for the third year in a row.
