Officially… Xavi announces his departure from Barcelona

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez announced that he will leave coaching the Catalan club at the end of the current season.

Xavi’s announcement came a few hours after the heavy 5-3 defeat against Villarreal, which made the Blaugrana’s chances of achieving the La Liga title this season difficult.

Xavi came out in the press conference after the match and said, “I want to announce that next June 30 will be my last day as Barcelona coach. The club needs a change.”

He also added, “I feel fine. I made this decision a long time ago, and I feel free now to announce it.”

As for the conversation that took place between him and Barcelona President Joan Laporta, he said, “It was a very friendly conversation. He knows that I love him and everyone inside the club. My relationship with everyone is really very good.”

He concluded, “I am very calm. My departure is the best for everyone, including me, the club and the players. I do not want to be a problem in Barcelona. I wanted to be the solution, and I will always be the solution.”
