Officially… Egypt loses a new star in the African Cup of Nations

The Egyptian Football Association announced in an official statement that goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy’s career with the Egyptian national team in the African Cup of Nations had ended due to injury.

The Al-Ahly goalkeeper was injured in the final moments of the Cape Verde match and was replaced by Muhammad Abu Jabal.

According to the statement, El-Shenawy suffers from a dislocated shoulder, due to which he will not be able to participate in the rest of Al-Kahn’s matches with the Egyptian national team.

It seems that El-Shenawy had very bad luck in the African Nations, as he was also injured in the 2021 edition, but in the round of 16, and then Abu Jabal was relied upon until the final match.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian national team lost the services of its first star, Mohamed Salah, due to a strain in his posterior muscle, and he will return to Liverpool to receive treatment, with the hope of returning to the Vitoria battalion once again if it reaches the final.

It is also worth noting that El-Shenawy in this edition did not perform as expected, as he was exposed to 7 shots throughout 3 matches in the groups and conceded 6 goals.
