Officially…announcing the transfer of a new big star to the Saudi League

Sevilla announced the departure of its star Ivan Rakitic and his joining the Saudi club Al-Shabab in a permanent transfer deal.

The Croatian international’s contract with the Andalusian club was extended until next summer, but the player expressed his desire to move to the Saudi League in recent days.

The value of the deal was not revealed, while some Saudi sources suggested that it was free and that Rakitic terminated his contract by mutual consent with Seville.

Rakitic’s joining Al-Shabab comes as part of attempts to save “Al-Lioth” from the collapse that the team has been experiencing since the beginning of this season, leaving it only 4 points away from the relegation places.

The 35-year-old has become the latest international star in the Rushen League, and in the youth club he will find a number of big stars such as Ever Banega and Yannick Carrasco.

Al-Shabab still has not announced the name of its new coach after the dismissal of Croatian Pescan a month ago, and after Jose Mourinho’s name was heavily discussed in the past few days.

It is noteworthy that Rakitic has a long and distinguished football career, as he played for Barcelona, Schalke, and Seville, and was also part of the Croatia national team, which won the world runner-up in 2018 and third in the world in 2022.
