Official.. announcing Mourinho’s successor as Roma coach

Roma appointed Daniele De Rossi as first-team football coach, succeeding sacked coach Jose Mourinho.

The Gyalurussian announced the dismissal of “Special One” from his position just 4 months before the end of his contract at the Olimpico Stadium, against the backdrop of declining results.

A few hours later, De Rossi was inaugurated, who is considered one of Roma’s most important legends as a player throughout its history.

De Rossi will temporarily coach Roma until the summer of 2024, with a clause allowing the contract to be renewed for another year with the satisfaction of all parties.

Commenting on his new job, De Rossi said: “It is an unbelievable passion, as everyone knows what Rome means to me. However, the work ahead of us is both difficult and important.”

As a player, De Rossi played 616 matches for Roma since he was promoted to the first team in 2000 until he left in 2019 to Boca Juniors.

De Rossi scored 63 goals for Wolves, and is the second most represented player for Roma in history after the legend Totti.

On the coaching level, De Rossi worked as an assistant in the Italian national team that won Euro 2020, then he took over as SPAL coach last season with an experience that lasted only 17 matches.
