Much sooner than expected… revealing the date of Courtois’ return to Real Madrid

Cadena Ser newspaper reported that Thibaut Courtois could return sooner than expected to be Real Madrid’s goalkeeper again.

The Belgian goalkeeper suffered a cruciate ligament tear last August, and it was said at the time that he would not play any matches this season.

But the pace of Courtois’ recovery is going faster than expected, and on this basis he may return soon, at least to the bench at the Santiago Bernabéu.

According to the report, it is expected that if Courtois’ rapid recovery continues, he will be present again in Real Madrid training next April.

At the same time, Carlo Ancelotti does not intend to risk Courtois before fully ensuring his recovery. The Italian believes that there is no need to rush the matter in light of the brilliance of Andriy Lunin and the presence of Kepa as a substitute.

Courtois fully understands this, and there is no clearer indication of his desire to fully recover before returning than his decision not to participate in Euro 2024 until he takes his full time to recover.

It remains to be noted that the 31-year-old, even if he returns in April and participates before the end of the current season, will not play in Euro 2024 either so that he can prepare for the next season to the fullest.
