Lebanon is the first Arab to bid farewell to the 2023 Asian Cup

The Lebanese national team bid farewell to the 2023 Asian Cup after being defeated in the final round of the group stage by Tajikistan 2-1.

The Cedar Country had the opportunity to qualify for the round of 16 in the event of a victory over Tajikistan, with Qatar simultaneously defeating China 1-0.

Indeed, Lebanon took the lead through Bassel Jradi in the 47th minute, and the task of crossing to the final eight seemed within reach.

But Qassem El-Zein received a red card in the 56th minute, and Lebanon completed the match with ten players, and with it difficulties began to appear.

In the 80th minute, Parvizdhun Amarbev equalized for Tajikistan, then Nourdin Khamrokolov ended Lebanon’s chances of qualifying with the second goal in the 92nd minute.

With this defeat, the Lebanese team placed at the bottom of the group with one point from a draw with China, and with it the end of its journey in the Asian Cup.

Tajikistan, in turn, qualified for the round of 16 in its first Asian participation, accompanying the Qatar national team, and China is waiting for what will happen, hoping for a miracle during which it will qualify with two points as the best of the third.
