Laporta’s reaction to Xavi after Bilbao’s disappointment raises great controversy

A state of conflict dominated the Spanish media when talking about Barcelona President Joan Laporta’s reaction to the 4-2 loss to Athletic Bilbao and bidding farewell to the King’s Cup.

Laporta used to enter the locker room after such setbacks and direct positive words to the players and support the coach, but that did not happen this time, according to “Sport.”

But the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” reported that Laporta waited for the Barcelona players at the club’s bus, consoled them for the defeat and demanded compensation from the players and the coach in the remaining two tournaments.

How Laporta reacted to the defeat can be seen in his anger at Xavi, even if he tried to absorb it by supporting him in front of the players on the bus.

In general, all sources agreed that Xavi will remain until at least the round of 16 of the Champions League, but bidding farewell to the competition at the hands of Napoli may oust him early from coaching the Blaugrana.

It is noteworthy that Barcelona’s chances of winning the Spanish League are difficult, given that they are 8 points behind leaders Girona after 21 rounds so far.
