La Liga shocks Barcelona and stops its star

The Spanish League’s Competitions Committee rejected Barcelona’s appeal of the second yellow card received by Vitor Roque in Alaves’ last match.

The promising Brazilian star was expelled after receiving a second yellow card, the validity of which was highly questionable, which led to a fierce attack by Catalan club officials on referee Martinez Munuera.

The Barcelona administration sent an appeal to the Competitions Committee to cancel this card and the expulsion, so that the player could participate in the next match against Granada.

But the response, according to the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, came that after examining the game carefully, it was found that the yellow card was deserved, and the decision of referee Munuera was not wrong.

Thus, Roque will join Barcelona’s list of major absences against Granada, which is led by Alejandro Balde and Gavi, alongside Marcos Alonso and Joao Felix, and the position of the duo, Ter Stegen and Rafinha, regarding participation remains unknown until now.

The 18-year-old Roque has succeeded in scoring 2 goals in 7 matches he played for the Blaugrana shirt since he joined the Xavi Hernandez squad last January.

Barcelona occupies second place in the Spanish League standings with 50 points, 8 points behind leader Real Madrid, which will face runner-up Girona next Sunday.
