Klopp: Liverpool were very lucky not to sign Bellingham!

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp believes that it is fortunate for his club not to include Jude Bellingham or any other midfielder until they were able to sign Wataru Endo.

At the beginning of the summer transfer market, Bellingham joined Real Madrid, after which Liverpool tried to include Moses Caicedo and Lafia, but the duo joined Chelsea.

A few days later, Liverpool surprised everyone by signing Wataru Endo from Stuttgart for only 20 million euros, before the Japanese succeeded in becoming a key player in the Reds.

Klopp spoke about this, saying, “At first we wanted to sign Bellingham, but we realized that it was impossible to include him.”

He also added, “We thought we could include Caicedo, but things did not work out. He had a very emotional agreement with Chelsea and Pochettino.”

He continued, “Lafia had his own reasons for refusing to join us, and then we started thinking about who we could include to support the midfield.”

He concluded, “In fact, we were very lucky. We found Wataru!”

The 30-year-old Endo participated in 25 matches in all tournaments this season with Liverpool, during which he scored 3 goals and made another.

The Reds are currently missing the services of the Japanese international in light of his participation with his country’s national team in the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar.
