In sad words… Xavi: Barcelona realizes the value of people when they leave

Xavi Hernandez did not hide his awareness that his journey with Barcelona may be coming to an end, but he reminded that the Catalan club always realizes the value of people when they leave.

The coach is experiencing a lot of pressure after losing the Super Cup and the King’s Cup during the month of January, and with it, his future is at stake if he bids farewell to the Champions League or loses La Liga.

At the press conference for the Villarreal match, Xavi said, “In Barcelona, we appreciate the value of people when they leave. This happened with Valverde and Koeman, and also with Busquets and Alba. It is something we have to think about.”

He also added, “I hope you miss me too! I am happy and realize the value of what I have now and not later. In Barcelona we had historical dangers, like what happened with Guardiola and Enrique.”

He continued, “You have been talking about my future and my departure since last July, as soon as I lost a friendly match against Arsenal, and even now I am here.”

He concluded, “I spent two and a half years in Barcelona. Guardiola spent four years and Enrique two years. It seems that the time remaining for me in this position is less than it was before. There will come a time when I leave.”

Barcelona will face Villarreal in third place in the La Liga standings, 8 points behind leaders Girona, while it will face Napoli in the round of 16 of the Champions League in February.
